For thousands of years the dog has been at the centre of our affections.

Inspired by the love for û and from û her own dog Rachael Hale has collected a stunning array of images of our canine companions.

She photographed a myriad of hound shapes and sizes heights and girths shaggy coats and wiry curls û and the unique characters hidden beneath them.
